Robust, autonomous and richly sensed

Donatello is the very first robot of STAR UMA and the origin of our whole story. Conceived in the early days of the team (when we were still RoboRescue UMA), it was designed as a rover-style platform with a clear goal: competing in the RoboCup Rescue Robot League.
It combines a traction system able to overcome obstacles with a sensor chain for exploring environments that would be unsafe for humans. Over the years we have iterated its chassis, electronics and control software, turning it into a testbed for many of the technologies we use today.
What makes Donatello special
Robust system able to overcome obstacles in demanding terrain.
Multi-sensor chain for perception in hostile environments.
Modular control in continuous evolution, the team's testbed.
Industrial design built to withstand field conditions.
